A MAN who armed himself with a plank of wood and prepared to fight outside a Bundaberg nightclub appeared in court yesterday.
Justin Anthony Dodd, 30, of School Street, Kelvin Grove was with a group of men at the Central Hotel on August 30 last year, when his Concord Fake group and another bunch of men began to stir each other.
The court heard that after the two groups of men were thrown out of the Targo Street pub the "verbal slanging match" continued on the street.
Defence barrister Simon Burgess said his client was outnumbered by four bouncers when he made the decision to "defend himself" with a plank of timber.
Dodd was charged with Bally Replica Handbags a public nuisance offence and obstructing a police officer following the incident.
He also had a suspended jail sentence hanging over his head at the time of the offence, which was due to finish on October 1.
Magistrate Jennifer Batts said his early plea of guilty was a positive factor during the hearing.
"While it's a significant history, it is overwhelmingly for dishonesty-type offences, which you seem to have put behind you," she said.
"The events of August 30 are of concern to the court, but as Replica Parmigiani Mr Burgess says and I accept, you have made genuine efforts at rehabilitation... and I would hope there is every prospect for your future."
She fined Dodd $660 and extended the operational period of his suspended jail sentence to May.
