A thug has been targeting woman walking alone for their handbags in a series of daytime robberies.
In just one week three women aged 31 to 65 have been attacked in the Riverside area of Cardiff, prompting increased concern by police.
On each occasion the victim has been bundled to the ground from behind by a young man wearing either a hooded top or a woolly hat.
Detective Sergeant Mark Vaughan said: 'The locations are in close proximity and the method in each case is so similar that the same person must be responsible.
'He probably lives locally Chanel Charm Necklace or has connections in the Wellington Street area of Riverside.
'I don't want people to be alarmed but just to be aware that these have taken place.'
The first happened on Thursday, February 2, at 12.25pm, in Wyndham Street, when a 31-year-old woman was grabbed around the face, pulled by her hair down to the pavement and kicked in the back as he wrestled for her handbag.
As reported in the Echo at the time, the mugger, who was described as having a long face, failed to snatch Porcelain Earrings the bag and ran off empty-handed towards a lane in South Glamorgan Place.
Since then there have been two further successful robberies - one in nearby Machen Place at about 11am on Saturday, February 4, and another just before 1pm on Thursday, February 9, in Canton Court. The women were pushed from behind to the ground and robbed of their handbags. One of the victims was aged 50, the other 63.
All three victims, although not badly injured, were left with bruises, cuts and swollen limbs.

Black waist length jacket with two numbers on the back.
Cream jacket and matching cream trousers.
Black woolly hat.
