TWO women were both hurt as they tried to fight off robbers who struck in broad daylight on two separate estates in Sheffield .
One victim was hit by a stolen car as she bravely tried to block the escape route of the man who snatched her handbag in Foxhill.
The other was left bruised Gucci Ring and shaken after attempting to fight off a hammer-wielding thug who smashed the window of her car in Firth Park to grab a handbag containing a "substantial" amount of cash.
Officers from Operation Impact, the police squad set up to tackle street crime, are now investigating both incidents, which happened in less than 24 hours.
In the most violent incident, a 37-year-old woman was attacked for her handbag as she walked on a street in Foxhill.
She was punched in the back and dragged along the ground as the robber wrestled the bag from her shoulder.
Despite that, she managed to stumble to her feet and stood in the road to try to block his escape route, but instead of stopping he aimed the car at her and knocked her out of the way.

"She had seen the car parked as she walked past, but didn't pay any more attention to it. Then it pulled alongside and the man got out.
"He punched her in the back and that knocked her to the ground. He took the bag and she got in the way of the car to try to make him stop," he said.
The car, a white Ford Escort, had been stolen from Leighton Road, Gleadless, and was abandoned a short distance from the scene of the robbery, which happened at 9.40am on Saturday.
Less than 24 hours later a 51 year old woman was attacked moments after she got into her car in a car park off Hucklow Road, Firth Park.
She was carrying a large sum of money in her handbag and the side window of the car was smashed by a man who tried to snatch the bag.
Police said she struggled to stop him but he was successful and escaped in a stolen Renault 19, registration umber G181 GTF, which was later found in an alley off West Quadrant on the same estate.
The robber was white, aged in his early 20s, five feet ten inches tall, slim, and wore a hooded top.
